I’ve had a vision for 2 years of photographing a mother with her children. It finally worked for me to get a friend in the studio one day to play around and make this vision a reality. Jordan and her mother Melissa were beyond excited, however Liz – the youngest – had to be bribed. Actually it was a rather nice bribe and if it were me I would definitely try to work that angle again. When they we planned to wrap them in beautiful fabric, and then photograph simple black shirts. When they walked in the door I knew immediately what we were going for. Their outfits were exactly as I had asked Melissa to bring. Simple, classic, and black which would not distract from their beautiful blonde hair.
We worked for about an hour with hair and make-up. The girls and Melissa felt like we were playing dress, and even Liz loved the pampering. My assistant and daughter, Caroline, had everyone laughing as she curled, sprayed and gently patted powered. With their look complete we went into the studio for portraits. Jordan, then the group, Liz and finally Mom. I could not be more pleased with this amazing family portrait; it will become a family heirloom.
